The Chinese Are Sending Weapons to Mugabe to Help His Crackdown
| That is the word on the Zimbabwean blogosphere and also on Reuters. These weapons are ostensibly meant to help China's man in Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe, head off his electoral troubles and reassert his authority in the same brutal way that he has ruled with for years and that the Chinese favor themselves in their own country (see Tibet). This isn't the first shipment of weapons from Beijing to Harare but the timing of it is ominous. The Chinese are quite satisfied with their relationship with Mugabe and tend to favor stability and status quo in their allies - no matter what the cost. So, to them, regime change would be most unwelcome. I have asked "Is China Good for Africa?" [See part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4, part 5, part 6, and part 7.] I think it is pretty clear that China is NOT good for Zimbabwe. How long is the world going to put up with this crap? When we will stop kissing their ass and calling it ice cream? Not soon enough. But hey, let's all enjoy the Olympics (with our mouths shut), right? |

if you think china is going to be a nice country, look at what they are doing, sending weapons to mugabe, to help start war in his country.
to think that china hold talks about solving problems, like north Korea and Iran, is a joke, they should be attacked right now before they are very strong, i think we all no what will happen soon, its clear, they will start war just the Nazis did, 1 small place like Tibet, then another one and so on, unto we declare war on them. by then they will be fully armed with who nose what weapons, they pump so much money into there new technology, within 5 years, they could have better technology then America.
Mugabe should be stoped with force, and set thing right for the people living in that country. They do Iraq, I think they should of done Zimbabwe along time ago.
If Americas uses massive are force, they could take over Zimbabwe with 30,000 troops, and it would not be like the Iraq war, even mugabes troops, don’t like him, they would throw down there weapons and would be very happy for a democratic system. I think Britain should attack Zimbabwe, and set thing right for the Zimbabwe people.

This is outrageous; but sadly, not surprising. I hope enough people will hold the Chinese Govt's feet to the fire---the Olympics (and the possibility of great shame in the eyes of the world) are a tremendous opportunity. Let's see if anyone will leverage it.
I doubt Dubi-ya will do anything---if you thought the subprime mess was a crisis, what do you think will happen if China forecloses on their loan?
