New Middle Eastern Hegemon
I found a fascinating and informative article on KurdishMedia.com giving a detailed account of the struggle for hegemony in the Middle East. The author's candidates are Iran (Shia theocracy) and Turkey (Sunni secular). (Read this, it is worth the time.) The article includes a lot of informative history and conjecture as well as how the Kurds have been affected by this tandem and how they now affect their plans. You always here of Iran v. Saudi Arabia or Egypt (or the US) for hegemony in the region but not Turkey. Definitely worth a read if you are interested in the future (and history) of the Middle East (as we all should be).
